WHO WE ARE

Keep Families Afloat is an initiative focused on supporting the expanded monthly Child Tax Credit and calling for its increased visibility among policymakers, candidates, and voters during this year’s midterm elections. Our leadership team is based across the country and includes politically engaged parents, local elected officials, and former advisors to President Biden, President Obama, and Secretary Clinton.

We dedicate our resources to demanding that political candidates address the economic concerns of families. We publish political data demonstrating the importance of the Child Tax Credit, endorse candidates in key races who are speaking up for its extension, hold Members of Congress accountable for voting against the program, and run advertisements to keep up momentum through November’s elections.

OUR CALL TO ACTION

In the wake of mounting inflation and rising gas prices, countless families across the United States are feeling unprecedented strain. Basic staples needed for raising a family are becoming increasingly unaffordable, and partisan gridlock in Washington has failed voters over and over again. Earlier this year, Congress allowed for the expiration of the expanded monthly Child Tax Credit program – one of the Biden Administration’s most visible, tangible, and impactful anti-poverty policies that succeeded in lifting millions of children out of economic hardship and food insecurity. With the support of parents and political advocates living in key states, we launched Keep Families Afloat to remind policymakers, candidates, and voters of the power that the Child Tax Credit has in transforming lives for parents and families.

Fighting to extend the Child Tax Credit is more than just a powerful message for policymakers and candidates looking to build a clear economic message, it is a lifeline to voters that are growing increasingly fearful of an uncertain economic future. Families across the nation – including suburban parents, low-income parents, and parents of color – understand the critical importance of this program and will undoubtedly hold our elected officials accountable if they let us down. It’s time we mobilize, engage, and fight for a program that has saved so many lives. Without it, millions of children will continue to fall deeper into poverty.
